Scotland’s Western Isles

Caledonian MacBrayne boasts a comprehensive network of ferries, a fleet as varied as the destinations we serve across 200 miles of Scotland’s west coast. We provide an everyday lifeline service to west coast communities, and for tourism, we play a critical role in enabling its development, which is hugely important for the area’s economy.

Western Ferries is a privately owned company which has operated the short 20 minute ferry crossing between Hunter’s Quay (Dunoon) and McInroy’s Point (Gourock) across the Firth of Clyde since 1973.  This route links the central belt of Scotland with the Cowal peninsula and beyond.

Due to the the large number of islands and peninsulas in Argyll and Bute, ferry travel is an important part of our transport network, for both residents and tourists alike.

The Council runs 4 ferry routes serving Cuan, Lismore, Jura and Easdale.
